Fellow alum here but from quite a bit earlier. The controversial chapels of my day were usually about women and egalitarianism rather than race. Your writing here is beautiful. It reminds me to be gracious with people, because what seems entrenched may well change.

I am a seminary graduate from the Church of the Brethren, 75’, 81’. I just finished reading WHAT THE TRUTH SOUNDS LIKE, by Michael Eric Dyson. Actually, I also went to our public library and picked up the audio for the same book. Wow! Give it a read when you can. It was as if I was listening those times and those events through a much different lens. My eyes were opened and my mind was blown.
